Melanotan I is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), a hormone the body makes naturally. The same molecule, afamelanotide, is the active ingredient in an FDA-approved prescription implant. Vials supplied outside a licensed pharmacy are not that approved product.
